Writing Winning Business Plans: How to Prepare a Business Plan that Investors Will Want to Read and Invest In (Rich Dad Advisors)

Kirkus Reviews, December, 2012 wrote: Sutton (Start Your Own Corporation, 2012) provides a handbook for entrepreneurs on the secrets behind successful business plans.Businesses often start with a flash of inspiration for a product or service. According to the author, the difference between a good idea and a prosperous business is a well-written business plan. At its most basic level, a business plan helps organize an entrepreneur’s thoughts, Sutton writes; at its highest level, it provides a tightly structured outline of what the business will accomplish, how it will be funded and its requirements for long-term success. Sutton provides advice on how to establish a vision for what the business will do, how to gauge the potential company’s competition and how to find funding. “Ideally, a business plan is the intersection of everything inside the business (costs, products, services, personnel, etc.) and everything outside the business (competition, market trends, political forces, etc.).” The book provides several examples of how structured plans have helped individuals understand their opportunities and challenges and, as an example, also supplies a detailed plan of a potential restaurant. The author writes with authority, giving concrete reasons behind each section of a plan, but offers plenty of encouragement along the way, motivating readers to undertake what is essentially a soul-searching exercise as well as a financial one. Sutton is also objective and truthful when highlighting the pitfalls that entrepreneurs may encounter. He reminds business owners that once a business is up and running, it’s essential to consult the original business plan from time to time to ensure they are achieving their original goals.A wide-ranging, detailed primer for potential entrepreneurs.

Mommy+Baby+Work =3 Working Successfully from Home

I remember like it was yesterday, November 7, 2011 the day I took my first pregnancy test. Tish tosh were the first words that popped into my mind as I was about to peek at the two little windows. One line or two lines? My destiny was in the balance. A week ago, I had flown to our fertility clinic to have one  remaining frozen embryo transferred. After 2 failed IVFs we needed this one to work to end 8 years of heartache. The tish tosh turned into OMG as I saw what looked like a faint line alongside the other line. My dream of motherhood had finally come true. With the fulfillment of that dream, another dream got conceived - that of becoming a mompreneur. After all that my husband and I went through to get our miracle, I could not see myself placing our adorable baby girl in daycare while I worked at an office job. After all, I have an MBA so I should be able to create a successful work from home opportunity. Needless to say, the past two and a half years have been filled with tremendous learning experiences. I learned about the importance of knowing who you are and what your true passion is. I strongly believe the key to successfully creating a business is to focus on what you truly feel passionate about. I also learned how not to settle for less. When you are a Work at Home Mom, your time is valuable.Taking care of a baby or young child just by itself with no other obligations is a full time job. When you add a work at home profession, you are basically working two full time jobs (unless you are part time). You want to maximize how much you earn to the greatest extent possible given your skills, experience, and talent. Since I also have a social services background, my passion for helping people has always stayed with me. I decided to use my passion for helping others to help moms explore strategies for working at home and taking care of their children at the same time. Through my personal experience as a work from home mom and all the research that I have done over the years, I know I have a lot to offer moms.  Hence this book which I hope proves to be a useful resource.
